Catherine Hannah

Catherine was born in Blackpool, UK, and has lived in the Geelong region for the last 8 years. A graduate in Imaginative Writing, Catherine's foray into poetry lay dormant for some years until a serious car crash heralded the end of her career in early childhood education. Bereft, Catherine returned to poetry as a way to make sense of the changes in her life-her debut collection, "The Ballad of the Bunny and Other Poems: The Diary of a Car Crash and Beyond", was born. She continues to use poetry to navigate difficult emotions and to support others to do likewise.

Catherine is a classical pianist and loves singing. She spent eight seasons as a music counsellor at a summer camp in California, tutoring children and young people in piano, vocal harmony and song writing. Catherine is also an active volunteer advocate as part of a statewide road safety organisation. She lives in Geelong with her husband, rabbits and chickens.

The Ballad of the Bunny and Other Poems: The Diary of a Car Crash and beyond

"He arrived with a storm and left on a breeze a life filled with love, by the tide and the trees"

This true story combines whimsical rhyme with beautiful hand drawn pictures to support children and adults alike in coping with grief and loss.

The death of a pet can inspire intense emotions. This candid yet gentle narrative prompts conversations around:

• expressing grief

• aging and the circle of life

• what might happen after death

• remembering loved ones

Join Dunstan the pot bellied pig as he makes his way through life (and a chunk of the property market) alongside his favourite Person.

The first in the Curly Tail series by poet and illustrator Catherine Hannah (The Ballad of the Bunny and Other Poems: The Diary of a Car Crash and Beyond).
