Eva Boyum

Eva was born in 1929 in Kezdi, a small town in the Transylvania region of Hungary. She was the only child of Rose & Joe Boyum and spent an idyllic childhood up to the age of ten. Family life was severely disrupted by the Second World War and the Holocaust. During these turbulant years, a large number of highly improbable events - often with split-second timing- and some very honourable people, contributed to the whole family's survival. The author was at the point of death in a concentration camp when she was discovered by the liberating British soldiers. She was slowly nursed back to health then sent to Sweden, with her mother, to recover fully. There they were joined by her father. After six years thefamily emigrated to Australia where Eva spent a long career as a psychotherapist.

Autobiography
In the Nick of Time - an autobiography

Beginning with a picture of life in Eastern Europe in the early 20th century and the effect of WW 1 on the family fortunes, this story details the life of a young Hungarian girl from her origin in a small town, through the disruption of WW 2 and the Holocaust, to post-war refuge in Sweden. During these turbulent years, a large number of highly improbable events - often with split-second timing - and some very honourable people, contributed to the whole family's survival and its emigration to Australia where the author pursued a long and worthwhile career and an interesting retirement.
